The night we were waiting to set off to the Halo 4 midnight launch my friend had just got his highest skill to 50 and got to a general. He’s been on Halo 3 online since it came out and is one of these AMAZING guys who knows every last little trick to every single map. He was playing a match on guardian and he was like “Reece check this out”
Looked on the ground for a specific point and stood on it and then went “Okay stand here and throw a grenade while aiming at that branch on that tree and-“
then he jumped back up to the platform doing one of those jumps where they slide up a piece of terrain, crouching at a specific moment and just defying the fuck out of any physics ever. And then the grenade went off on the curved ramp that I believe is known as “Snipe 3” and detonated a Plasma Battery and killed the guy shooting him.
“THE MORE YOU KNOW!”
he said
Another time he was on Construct and he threw a grenade while rounding the corner near the top of gold lift, killed a guy and then the sniper rifle flew out of the lift and he grabbed it then sniped a couple guys down the other corridor. He’d blown the sniper into the lift with a perfectly aimed grenade. Whilst moving.
I have no idea how he does all this shit.
There is a 50 day Halo Challenge HERE where for each of the 50 days leading up to the release of Halo 4 you answer a question in a text post. I think it’d be fucking awesome if as many people as possible do it every day and tag each entry as ‘50 days of halo’ so we can track the tag and see what everyone else is putting.
For example September 26th “Favorite Cutscene” hopefully we can browse the tag and see what everyone’s favorite cutscenes are, even think “WOW YEAH I forgot about that one” and get all nostalgic about everything for the 50 days leading up to the release.
Remember if you’re gonna be away for periods of time just queue it up or whatever.
I really liked it when people used to do 50 day challenges and I think it’d awesome that this one doubles as a countdown to Halo 4, and also that it’s date synced too which will be more awesome if we can get more people doing it.
So yeah, spread the word and don’t forget to answer :)
A few of my Halo screenshot edits from around this time last year, eventually stopped doing them but once 343 sort file sharing out again I want to start doing some again, they were fun.

This is the only achievement I do not have on Halo 3.
So here’s my idea. In the past I have set up Achievement Hunting lobbies, and I want to do it again!
Although this might be a little tricky and more complicated to get. But if you’re seriously interested here’s the what you need to do.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
1. Check your rank in the Halo 3 Lone Wolves playlist. Then either rank up (or down) to level 15-25. (Halo 3 will only find people within 10 ranks of your rank).
2. Message me, with your gamertag, tell me your Lone Wolves rank, and that you’re ready to do the Double Kill with a Laser Achievement.
3. Once I have 6-8 people, I will message you back letting you know when we will play (and further details of how to set up your game).I hope this works! I really want to finish 100% of Halo 3’s achievements!!
My friends did this by setting their language to an obscure country and selecting “Search By Language”
Might help
And might I say
It’s no wonder I loved Reach so much when it came out.
Yeah I know as a long time fanboy of Halo what I SHOULD be doing is furyfucking the hole in the middle of the H3 disc, shitting myself with pleasure then heading to the forums to make yet another post about how the DMR sucks.
To be completely honest, when I fired the assault rifle in Halo 3 just then, I was disappointed. The weapon I’d become used to in Halo Reach, sharp, loud and badass, sounded like it wasn’t doing any damage whatsoever.
Same with many of the weapons.
Luckily I found a BR and thought “here we go, let’s see how much I missed it”
I haven’t
If they don’t put Bloom in Halo 4 I am gonna be slightly annoyed, Bloom makes the weapons feel powerful, it makes you feel like you have a deadly weapon in your hand rather than the BR, which to me feels like nothing. I am pulling the trigger and, It’s just boring to fire, there’s no response.
On Halo Reach you can almost FEEL the dmr recoil as you fire it, it blooms and goes out of control if you do it too quickly, it makes you stop spamming the trigger and pause before firing again, with that doesn’t just add timing and tactics, it doesn’t just serve as a solution to cross-map spawn killing, but like I said before, makes it feel powerful.
The BR just feels flat and boring now to me…if they add bloom in Halo 4 and spruce up the sound effects it will be badass. Bloom applies to the assault rifle too, the Reach Assault rifle is AWESOME because it’s not just a hold and fire deal, it requires care and control, same as the DMR, and makes you feel like you’re actively firing it rather than just…I dunno how to explain it, it’s just boring on Halo 3 to fire the guns.
As for Armour Abilities I REALLY hope they bring back sprint at least, the amount of times in that last game I hit LB to sprint after an enemy to get closer range was ridiculous. Nothing is more bland than slowly jogging after an enemy at the same pace for 30 seconds, sprint makes the gameplay feel hectic, makes you feel like more of a soldier than what Halo 3’s constant walking pace makes you feel like; A robot.
Okay fair enough, take out Armour Lock, Jetpack (even though I love it to bits), invis, holo. But Sprint is VITAL to the fun.
Also the shields, on Halo Reach the shields slowly flare up towards the final shot where they burst, gives you the “I’m almost there” feeling before the final shot, popping the shields and placing the headshot. but Halo 3…That’s just a “oh I guess that bullet hit them”.
The Halo series will most likely ALWAYS be my favourite series in gaming, ALL the games are level in terms of story… but as for Multiplayer, yeah in it’s day Halo 3 was fun, and from what I played of Halo 2, that was fun. But Halo Reach takes the crown as far as I am concerned. I just hope they add bloom and sprint in Halo 4…and if not, at least add some way to make the weapons feel like they can actually do some damage.
P.S. sorry if this means I’m not a “real fan”

OPERATION REPOPULATE HALO 3 DAY
I saw this while of the 343 forums today. In honor of one last 7 on the 7th. So I’ll just passing it along to you wonderful people on Tumblr.
OPERATION: REPOPULATE THE HALO 3 SERVERS
The date is going to be April 7th. It gives us time to prepare but it’s still not too far in the future.
This is not a Halo Waypoint specific event. Read the whole post for details.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP
~Send messages to all the big commentators on YouTube, asking them if they can do a little shout out about the Halo 3 play date at the end of their next video. The more people that message, the more chance that they will actually do it. In the end, they are gamers too, so I’m sure they will be glad to help.
~Alert the people who play Halo that may not be on Halo Waypoint’s forums. Not everyone uses Halo Waypoint, and we will be missing a large chunk of potentials players by not telling your friends/colleagues/anyone you know that played Halo 3. If they say that they don’t have it anymore, let them know that it is only $5 if you buy it used, and can most likely be found in the giant bargain bin in the local Gamestop. Hell, you could even buy it for a few people since it’s so damn cheap now.
~Alert any other forums that you think may be interested in this idea.
~Like the [1] Facebook page so we obtain more exposure.
~REPLY TO THIS TOPIC! Keep it alive and let people see it!
~This is a chance to relive the days of old Halo 3. Back when everyone was playing, and it was a giant cluster of friends and sociality. (I think that’s a word)
~So do whatever you feel inclined to do, and then do a little bit more after that. Let’s get this happening!
Remember, the date is April 7th.
